Celebrity heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz announced Tuesday that he is running for Pennsylvania’s US Senate seat as a Republican.

Oz, 61, is best known as the host of ‘The Dr. Oz Show’ and for his appearances on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’.

In a one-minute video, Oz announced himself on social media as a champion of people’s health who “took on the medical establishment to argue against costly drugs and skyrocketing medical bills.”

The longtime New Jersey resident also pitched to Trump loyalists, invoking the former President’s slogan to allude to his political philosophy; “America first.”

Other GOP candidates include Kathy Barnette, conservative commentator, and Carla Sands, former ambassador to Denmark.
