Biden announces nominations for OMB. Shalanda Young nominated as Director.

Where: United States

The Facts

On November 24th, President Joe Biden nominated Shalanda Young to serve as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Nani Coloretti to serve as the Deputy Director of the OMB.

Shalanda Young is currently serving as the Acting Director of the OMB after the Senate confirmed her as Deputy Director in a bipartisan 63-37 vote in March 2021.

Coloretti is a Senior Vice President at the Urban Institute and, during the Obama administration, served as the Deputy Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department.

While announcing the nominations for the OMB, Biden referred to Young and Coloretti as “two extraordinary, history-making women.”

Next, the Senate will deliberate on Biden’s nominations. If confirmed, Young will become the first black woman to head the OMB.
