House votes to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress

Trump ally held in contempt of Congress. Bannon defied a subpoena for Jan 6 Committee.

Where: Washington, DC

The Facts

On Thursday, the House voted to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the Jan 6 committee.

Former White House chief strategist Bannon was ordered last month to produce documents pertaining to events leading up to the Jan 6 insurrection and appear for a deposition on October 14.

Bannon refused to cooperate, leading the select committee to vote unanimously to hold him in contempt of Congress.

The full House voted 229-202 on Thursday in favor of the committee’s decision.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. will pass the contempt report to the Justice Department, which may choose to prosecute Bannon.
