Netflix staff walk-out over Chappelle controversy. Staff protest ‘transphobic’ comments.

Where: Los Gatos, CA

The Facts

Netflix employees staged a walk-out on Wednesday to protest the streaming service’s decision to release comedian Dave Chappelle’s new special.

Team Trans, as a group of employees call themselves, say the Chappelle ridicules trans people in the special.

Chappelle says he is a part of “Team TERF” or Trans-exclusionary radical feminists in the special.

Staff picketed outside Netflix’s headquarters against the company’s decision to release the special and called on the streaming giant to fund more trans and non-binary talent while taking measures to curb “transphobia and hate speech.”

Content chief and co-CEO Ted Sarandos said, “I had a group of employees who were feeling pain and hurt from a decision we made. And I think that needs to be acknowledged upfront before you get into the nuts and bolts of anything.”
