Haiti gang demands money to free kidnapped missionaries

A gang in Haiti, which kidnapped a group of US and Canadian missionaries is demanding $1 million in ransom for each of the 17 people in their custody.

The kidnapped group consists of five men, seven women, and five children – they were returning after visiting an orphanage when they were abducted.

The gang is believed to be the 400 Mawozo gang, notorious for seizing vehicles and holding the occupants to ransom.

The same gang kidnapped a group of Catholic clergy in April.

Christian Aid Ministries stated, “We request prayers for the Haitian and American civil authorities who are working to resolve this situation.”
